St. Hilarion of Taxiarchis Monastery

Forms of name: Hilarion

Steward of the Taxiarchis Monastery (near Aigio, Greece) in the early 16th century; he was martyred by Turks when he refused to surrender the keys to the monastery storeroom and treasury. His relics were discovered in the late 20th century after the saint revealed their location in a vision. Their condition matched his description of how he was killed, and when cleaned, exuded a strong fragrance.

As of this writing, St. Hilarion has not been formally canonised.
